Walkingfloor transport for loose bulk materials
Do you need transport for loose bulk materials? DTC is based in Friesland and operates daily with walkingfloor trailers across the Netherlands and throughout Europe. This type of transport is suitable for loose materials such as waste streams, wood chips, compost and secondary fuels in bulk.
Because tipping is not required, we can also unload at locations with limited height or where the ground does not allow heavy tipping forces. The load is discharged in a controlled way using the moving floor system. This prevents delays, unsafe situations and damage to buildings or installations.
Since 2009, we have been working for waste processors, recyclers and fuel producers who deal with loose bulk flows every day.

How does the unloading system of a walkingfloor trailer work?
In walkingfloor transport, the trailer is equipped with a moving floor consisting of separate floor slats that are hydraulically driven. The floor moves in a fixed sequence, allowing loose bulk materials to move backwards in a controlled manner.
The load remains in place due to friction while the system operates. Because tipping is not necessary, you can unload safely at sites with restricted height or above processing installations. The unloading speed can be adjusted accurately.
Which loose bulk materials can you transport with a walkingfloor trailer?
Not every bulk load is suitable for tipping. Especially with mixed waste streams or wet loads, you want to avoid issues during transport.
That is why this type of trailer is widely used in recycling, processing and agriculture for:
- waste and processing residues such as mixed fractions, MSW, construction and demolition waste and secondary fuels
- green list waste and red list waste with the correct accompanying documentation
- ADR waste where safety and regulations are key
- materials for reuse such as paper streams, plastics and wood waste
- biological and agricultural goods such as wood chips, compost and manure
For wet or leak sensitive loads, we use Semi-Leak walkingfloor trailers that can retain up to 650 liters. Construction materials such as aggregates or lightweight insulation materials are also possible. We align this in advance so your planning stays on track.

Why do companies choose walkingfloor transport?
Companies that process loose bulk materials focus on loading capacity, on site safety and practical usability. A walkingfloor trailer offers a capacity of approximately 90 to 100 m³. This allows you to transport more per trip compared to many other systems.
The advantages at a glance:
- unloading at locations where tipping is not possible
- high cubic capacity for materials with lower weight per m³
- suitable for both outbound and return loads
- stable unloading process without risk of tipping

Frequently asked questions about loose bulk transport
A walkingfloor is suitable for large volumes of loose bulk and locations where tipping is not possible, such as inside a warehouse or under an installation. For palletised goods via a loading dock, a tautliner is more practical. If you work with fixed containers or have limited space on site, a container truck offers more control over planning and deployment.
For a standard 13.5 metre trailer, unloading usually takes between 5 and 15 minutes. This depends on the type of material, the hydraulic system settings and the receiving installation.
Light and free flowing materials such as wood chips or grain unload faster than compacted waste or moist, cohesive bulk materials.
Yes. Especially when switching between waste streams and agricultural or food related products, cleaning is important to prevent cross contamination.
With moist or sticky materials, regular cleaning is also necessary to limit contamination beneath the floor system and to prevent malfunctions.
