Walkingfloor Transport France

Transporting goods to France requires a different approach than a run to neighbouring countries. The distances are greater, the toll road network is more extensive, and strict driving bans apply to heavy freight traffic on Sundays and public holidays. That calls for a transport partner who knows the route and thinks ahead.

KDTC Group – De Transportcompagnon organises international walkingfloor transport from Friesland, including to France. From bulk goods and recycling materials to industrial residual streams. We factor French driving bans and toll routes into our planning, so your cargo arrives on time.

How does a walkingfloor trailer work?

A walkingfloor trailer uses a hydraulic system that moves the floor in separate sections. Those sections move alternately, shifting the load step by step towards the rear of the trailer. No tipping required. Unloading is fully automatic, making it possible to unload in warehouses, factory halls or other locations with limited overhead clearance.

What do we transport with the walkingfloor to France?

The walkingfloor handles a wide range of loads. At DTC, this includes:

  • agriculture and recycling such as wood chips, compost, grain and manure
  • waste and raw materials such as paper, plastics, demolition waste and residual materials
  • green list and red list waste in accordance with the EU Waste Shipment Regulation (WSR)
  • ADR waste with applicable safety requirements and documentation
  • industrial bulk transport such as bales, big bags and loose bulk goods
  • construction materials such as sand and gravel

For wet or liquid loads, we use semi-leak walkingfloor trailers. These absorb up to 650 litres and prevent leakage in transit. Ideal for wet waste streams or moist biomass.

Why a walkingfloor and not a tipper?

A tipper needs room to tip. On sites with low roof structures, soft ground or limited manoeuvring space, that is a problem. The walkingfloor unloads horizontally: the cargo slides out while the trailer stays level.

Additional advantages:

  • loading volume up to 92 m³, so you move more in a single run
  • suitable for both packaged and loose bulk goods
  • short loading time thanks to the automated system
  • deployable in locations where a crane or tipper cannot operate

Chauffeur van DTC voert controle uit op walking floor trailer voor transport naar België

Driving to France: what you need to know

Most transports from the Netherlands to France travel via Belgium, with key corridors running towards northern, eastern and southern France. France also has an extensive toll road network, so route selection and costs need to be planned well in advance.

Strict driving bans apply to heavy freight vehicles in France. As a rule, vehicles over 7.5 tonnes may not drive on Sundays and public holidays from 00:00 to 22:00. Additional restrictions may apply around national holidays.

Cross-border waste transport to France falls under the EU Waste Shipment Regulation (WSR). Depending on the waste stream, prior consent is required from the competent authorities in the country of dispatch, any transit countries and France itself. We are happy to help you determine what is required for your specific load.

What you can expect from De Transportcompagnon:

➜ fast deployment, even at short notice
➜ reliable transport with well-maintained equipment
➜ clear communication and a dedicated contact person

In addition to France, we also transport to Belgium, Germany and Denmark.

Frequently asked questions

What can you transport with a walkingfloor trailer to France?

Walkingfloor trailers handle loose bulk loads such as waste, compost and wood chips. Bales, pallets and big bags are no problem either. For wet or oil-containing loads, we have liquid-tight trailers available.

What does the route to France look like?

We travel via Belgium to France. Main routes run via the E40 towards Paris or via the E17 and E19 towards Lille and the surrounding regions. For destinations further south, such as Lyon or the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, we plan the run based on toll routes and applicable driving bans. We always provide a realistic delivery time when planning.

What are the driving bans for trucks in France?

Heavy freight vehicles in France face driving bans on Sundays and public holidays, generally from Saturday 22:00 to Sunday 22:00. Additional restrictions may apply around national holidays. We factor this into our planning and communicate the impact on delivery times in advance.

How does waste transport regulation work for France?

Cross-border waste transport falls under the EU Waste Shipment Regulation (WSR). For waste streams subject to a notification procedure, prior written consent is required from the competent authorities in the country of dispatch, France, and any transit countries involved. Contact us to discuss what documents and approvals are needed for your specific load.

What is the difference between green list and red list waste?

Green list waste generally covers non-hazardous waste streams such as paper, cardboard and certain plastics. Administrative requirements for this type are usually limited. Waste streams not covered by the green list and subject to a notification procedure require prior written consent from the competent authorities in both the country of dispatch and the country of destination, and in transit countries where applicable.

Is a walkingfloor suitable for wet or oil-containing loads?

Yes. Some of our trailers are liquid-tight, making them suitable for wet waste streams or oil-containing materials.

What does walkingfloor transport to France cost?

It depends on the distance, type of load, toll costs and duration of use. We are happy to put together a tailored proposal. Request a no-obligation quote.

When should you choose a walkingfloor over a container vehicle or curtainsider?

A container vehicle works well for fixed containers or when you need to swap multiple skips at one location. A curtainsider/tautliner suits palletised loads loaded and unloaded via a tail lift or dock. The walkingfloor is the better choice for large volumes, loose or wet loads, or when tipping at the unloading site is not an option.

Can DTC arrange transport to France at short notice?

In most cases, yes. We have our own equipment and run the route regularly. Get in touch by phone or email, tell us what you need and we will check availability straight away.

I have another question, who should I contact?

Feel free to call or email us. We are happy to think along with you about walkingfloor transport to France.
